You are walking home from work and as you walk, you are hit by an odd stench, and then you can see it, ‘it’ being a pile of garbage. You think to yourself, “I wish there was something I could do about this” and go the opposite direction nose scrunched up. Except in this scenario, I decided that something had to be done about it, and I stepped up. That is how report taka came to be.
Seeing garbage in areas that are not garbage disposals is so common in Kenya that it has been normalized. But why should that be the case? Why should we ruin the environment and act like it is the norm? When I was thinking about Report taka, these are the problems I was aiming to solve. I knew that someone had to do something and decided that that someone was going to be me. I wasn’t going to wait, I mean I had tried waiting, and nothing had been done.

I had just the right team for this, I had everything I needed. And sure enough me and my team whipped up Report taka. This was the thought process, Why twitter?
Other thought process…
How it was done

If asked, I would say this was the best project for my first project. Through it I learned so much. This was my foundation and everything I have been able to achieve up until now, started with this one project.
