The Journey

The Why

The Beginning

I was born in Kagwe, Lari — a rural community in Kiambu County — and grew up in Kibera, one of
Nairobi’s most resilient neighbourhoods.

First in my family to attend university. First to travel abroad. First to stand on an
international stage.

From First Class Honours at the University of Eldoret, to a full Safaricom scholarship at
Strathmore, to the stage at Twitter headquarters in San Francisco — every step taught me the
same thing: where you start doesn’t have to define where you end up.

The Builder

I’m a builder at heart. As CTO and Co-Founder of Attallah CGL, I lead a team that has created software products serving thousands of businesses and employees across Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Somalia, Somaliland, Djibouti, and beyond.
Our flagship products tell the story of what we care about:

  • HimaHR – A cloud-based human resource management system serving over 20,000 employees across 8 African countries
  • dPOS – A point-of-sale solution powering 135+ small businesses in Kenya and Rwanda
  • Salami – A payment gateway processing over KES 200 million in transactions annually.
  • Votrack – A vote tallying system which has run elections in Kenya since 2013.

The Journey

In 2016, my team won #SmartCityNairobi – Twitter’s first hackathon in Africa – with ReportTaka, a crowdsourced garbage reporting application. That win took us to San Francisco as Africa’s representatives at AngelHack’s Global Demo Day. I was only 24.

I’ve spoken at Twitter headquarters, represented Kenya at the Africa Grand Challenge in Arusha, and contributed to education technology at Eneza Education, a platform that has reached over 5 million learners across Africa.

These experiences taught me that African innovation belongs on the global stage – and that the ideas shaping our continent’s future are being built right here, by people who understand our challenges firsthand.

The Why

Building products isn’t enough. I’m deeply committed to youth empowerment and community development.

As Chairman of the Kabete Volleyball Team, I’ve helped grow our membership and run financial literacy programmes for young people. Through the Emerging Leaders Foundation fellowship, I trained in public speaking, policy advocacy, and leadership.

I believe Kenya’s future depends on young people who don’t just identify problems but build solutions. I’m committed to being one of them – and to creating pathways for others to do the same
